Gabrielle & Alex

lately i've been so thankful for where i live. alex and i live close to a small town called oak lake and close to another small town called virden. now i grew up in the city and always thought i liked it and i never wanted more. but, i tell ya the small town is the place to be. i really like how everybody wants to know my name but more importantly wants to know who my dad is and what my husband does. i like it that there is always an option to pay for something when you take it or just to write it on the bill. i like that the people at co-op have my number memorized. i like it that anybody could write me a letter and address it to "gabrielle in oak lake" and i would most likely recieve it. i like that they don't bother with sidewalks but do bother with flower pots on every corner. i like that all the roads are in bad shape and there are many empty houses. i like that people like to fill their lawns with dead cars. it's a entirely different life than the one i grew up in, and i sure like it.
